Stephen Adly Guirgis’ Pulitzer-winning, Broadway smash-hit comedy is now playing in London!
After his widely acclaimed performance as King Lear at the Almeida Theatre, Danny Sapani takes Hampstead’s Main Stage as widowed ex-cop Walter ‘Pop’s Washington. Having been shot by a rookie white cop years before, the NYPD are on his case to settle his lawsuit against them, while his landlords want him out of his palatial, rent controlled Manhattan apartment – and the ladies from the local church are on a mission to save his soul. It seems everyone is after something different from Pops – but Pops is gonna do what Pops wants to do…
Martins Imhangbe (Bridgerton) plays Pops’ son Junior, who lives with his father alongside his friend Oswaldo (Sebastian Orozco, Clyde’s, Donmar) and girlfriend Lulu (Tiffany Gray, who makes her stage debut). They are joined onstage by Ayesha Antoine (Out West, Lyric Hammersmith, Judith Roddy (Derry Girls) and Daniel Lapaine (Retrograde, Kiln Theatre).
Must end June 15! Use promo code LASTCHANCE25 when booking to unlock £25 tickets for best available seats across all remaining performances.
