A Mother Speaks is written and directed by Judd Batchelor. It’s the story of a Mother who loses her teenage son to a gun/knife crime and the decision she made that would change her life forever.
In this new online exclusive Judd Batchelor has used live theatre and film to give a more authentic view of this story. Giving the lead character played by Valerie Paul Kerry (Fix Up, Kwame Kwei-Armah – Tower Theatre, hang by debbie tucker green -Tower Theatre) more depth to her role.

Meet the Cast
Valerie Paul From an early age Val realised acting was her passion but was encouraged to seek ‘a proper job’! A career in the Legal field was established, but the pull of acting kept calling her back. Becoming a professional actor in her later years has given her the life skills and wisdom to perform truthfully.
Having trained at Identity Drama School and The Actors Centre. She studied the Meisner Technique with Dominique Gerrard. Val has appeared in various stage productions, commercials and a feature film, she was part of the LSO Discovery Family Concert, for The Disappearance of Doctor Copernicus at the Barbican.
She recently starred in a performance of Hang, by debbie tucker green, showing at the Tower Theatre, Stoke Newington.
When she is not performing, she can be found at the theatre watching her fellow actors, listening to live music and spending time with family.
