“The isle is full of noises,
Sounds, and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.”
On a remote island, a mother and daughter watch as a ship is wrecked on the shore; but this is no accident, and this is no ordinary island. As the survivors come to discover, magic does exist and those we think are lost forever are really just waiting to be found.
Shipwrecks, sorcerers and surprises, Shakespeare’s final play is an enthralling voyage of reckoning and redemption.
For our 50th production – yes 50th! – Guildford’s largest and most popular award-winning green space, Stoke Park, will be transformed as audiences are moved around the ‘island’ in a spectacular promenade production, with our own HQ building converted into the wrecked remains of the huge ship.
Having created some of our best-loved shows (As You Like It 2021, Merry Wives 2019, and the award-winning Henry V), Caroline Devlin returns to direct:
“Having Stoke Park as our world to play and promenade through is such a gift. Using the boating lake island, stone circle and rose garden, as well as GSC’s new HQ, makes for a striking island experience; the park IS the island. Prospero brings with her, her own brand of magic, which is alien to this world. Magic of circus, mysticism and illusion.”
Join us for an enchanting island adventure brim-full with magic and mystery.
Summer 2022: let’s make it magic!
