021 is the 25th anniversary of the Alfred Fagon Award which awards an annual prize to a Black British playwright of African or Caribbean descent living in the UK.
To celebrate our anniversary the AFA is turning the spotlight on the roles which don’t normally take centre-stage: designers (e.g. costume, set, lighting and any other designers), composers, movement directors, make-up, stage managers, casting, literary roles, chief executives, administrators, marketing, box office and front of house.
We’ll be selecting 25 Black theatre practitioners to recognise their talent, dedication, drive and collaborative spirit.
Have you worked with an outstanding individual who goes above and beyond to deliver exceptional work?
Tell us what makes them so special and the difference they’ve made to your organisation and/or production (word limit – 250). There’s no age limit on who can be nominated or how many people you nominate.
Once we receive all the nominations the Board of Trustees, Chair of the Judges for Best New Play of the Year and the Administrator and Creative Producer for the AFA will choose 25 practitioners to feature in a special publication, on our website and across our social media.
