Afridiziak Theatre News review: Jersey Boys

I must admit my journey's to musicals can be counted on one hand and the last time I went needs to be counted on two hands and so I was excited to check out this award-winning musical.
Jersey Boys charts the rise and rise of one of the most successful groups from the early Sixties; The Four Seasons and Franki Valli. From everyday guys from New Jersey to their global fame, the musical retells their journey with fast paced wise cracks and hit after hit from their humungous back catalogue.
Occasional forays into more serious matters like the death of Franki Valli's daughter are only touched upon and quickly another hit is back. From Beggin', Sherry, Walk Like a Man, Will You Love Me Tomorrow? and many more which are authentically sung by the talented cast - you will find yourself in advertently singing along to tracks that have in some way been stored in your unconsciousness.
The musical is great because it makes you realise just how influential they were as a group as you go "I didn't know they did this track". This is a light-hearted and good, fun production.
* Jersey Boys is at the Prince Edward Theatre and in March 2010 celebrated two years at its London home.
